The ITele©t Judges Choose the Winner of the 3rd Competition and Award Three Distinctions
06/05/2009
The final meeting of the judges of the ITele©t Competition, at which the prize-winners were selected, was held on 6 May 2009.
The judges praised the standard of the competition work submitted, particularly the solutions to Case No. 4, the subject of which was problems associated with a trade mark. This is probably due to the fact that this topic is widely discussed during university courses. "The participants' greatest difficulties were with Cases No. 1 and 3, i.e. those concerning compensatory payments and software users' rights," said Krzysztof Siewicz, one of the competition judges. "Perhaps because those issues are rarely covered by students of law."
The judges assessed the 58 entries which met the competition requirements. The record number of entries shows that students are increasingly interested in the relatively new areas of law that the competition focused on. The judges chose the winner of the competition and awarded three distinctions. The entries were assessed from the perspective of a client who expects a lawyer to have not only theoretical knowledge, but also business acumen. The authors of the best entries did an excellent job of applying theoretical knowledge in practice and making recommendations.
The final of the 3rd ITele©t Polish National Competition will be held at 5 p.m. on 14 May 2009 at Warsaw's Kazimierzowski Palace [the Złota and Senate chambers], ul. Krakowskie Przedmieście 26/28.
The winner will receive the main prize - a cheque for PLN 10,000 - and all the prize-winners will be given book awards funded by C.H. Beck publishers and one-year access codes to NetTax. The prize-giving ceremony will be followed by a banquet. We congratulate the prize-winners and hope to see everyone at the final.
